Gay Pride?

The team at Gay Lanza and Gay Lanzarote couldn’t attend the recent Pride Festival so we’ve been reading the reports with interest.

Rex Wockner said “About 250 people paraded through the streets of Puerto del Carmen” in his report 1st Pride Lanzarote.

La Voz de Lanzarote reported that the organisation had told them more than 3,000 people participated “Más de 3.000 personas, según la organización, pudieron disfrutar del intenso y festivo ambiente que se respiraba en la Avenida de las Playas de Puerto del Carmen” in their report La celebración de Orgullo Gay tomó la avenida de Las Playas

Were you there? What was it like? Please tell us your thoughts either in comments, by email info@gaylanza.com or our in our forum.

Gay Destination of Lanzarote Promoted in Madrid

Sol, Playas y Libertad Lanzarote

The island of Lanzarote was recently promoted at the Gay Pride in Madrid. A float from Lanzarote took part in the parade which distributed thousands of leaflets, posters, t-shirts amongst other promotional items throughout the 5 day event.

The slogan for Lanzarote was "Sol, Playas... y Libertad" which translates to Sun, Beaches and Liberty.

The Patronato de Turismo and Sociedad de Promoción Exterior de Lanzarote collaborated with Viajes La Lupe an LGBT friendly travel agency based in Madrid to promote the destination of Lanzarote around the gay district of Chueca.

                  Local Recommendations: Paul

Paul has lived in Costa Teguise for several years and offered his insight on where to go in that Lanzarote resort.

                  Where’s good for entertainment?

Lively Lady’s Showbar in C.C. Nautical opposite Pueblo Marinero for a drag show and a great night out.

                  Which bar would you suggest?

Jesters Bar just off Pueblo Marinero, they have a mixture of English and Spanish clients attracting both locals and tourists and very gay friendly.

Which is your favourite local beach?

There aren’t any designated gay or nudist beaches in this resort, I would head to Playa Jablillo for the best snorkelling or Playa Las Cucharas for the best beach.

Where do you like to eat out?

Kerman and Repikada situated on either side of Avda Islas Canarias offer a fantastic selection of tapas from the Basque country or try the new La Fuente in C.C. Los Charcos.
