Charco del PaloSubmitted by Mike on Wed, 11/17/2010 - 16:45 |
Charco del Palo isn’t easy to find. As you drive through Mala, towards Arrieta, look for the Restaurante Don Quixote on your right. Turn right and follow the road all the way down to the coast, and you’ll find Lanzarote’s famed naturist village.

The whole village is clothing optional, and it has some fabulous coastline, with a secluded rock “platform” to swim from, as well as a very pleasant small beach.
There are a couple of decent restaurants there – our favourite is Peter’s Pub, which is confusingly run by Reiner, who cooks some great value for money dishes. We especially enjoyed his Wednesday evening rib night, with sweet roasted ribs served with chips and barbecue beans.
As well as being naturist, Charco is gay friendly, and many locals choose to spend their leisure time in the area enjoying the laissez faire attitude of the place.
Do head down there next time you visit the island!
