Robert Downey Jr  plays the character of Sherlock Holmes in the film directed by Guy Ritchie and co starring Jude Law. During the filming he described the lead characters as "two men who happen to be room-mates, wrestle a lot and share a bed".

This has sparked a debate as to whether Sherlock Holmes was gay and was Dr Watson his lover?
